Les Horvat is a distinguished photographic educator and award winning photographer, former director of Programs for Higher Education, School of Creative Media, at RMIT University and former Academic Director at Photography Studies College (Melbourne).
Les spent over twenty years working as an award-winning photographer in a career at the leading edge of commercial, advertising photography. He has won numerous awards including the Kodak Professional Photography Achievement Award, Gold and Silver at the Australian Professional Photography Awards and has been accepted into the Fuji ACMP Collection. In 1999 he achieved Masters status, within the peak photographic industry body, the Australian Institute of Professional Photography.
He has also co-authored a photographic text on digital imaging that has been published in four languages.
Les completed his Doctoral Thesis on how cultural dislocation may impact on the creative process and creative expression. His recent photographic projects have centred on Vietnam where he is exploring the notion of the cultural landscape and its intersection with memory.
