B. Photog (PSC), Diploma of Graphic Design (Torrens)
Cyndi is an award winning Illustrative photographer who captures ideas. She loves to create new worlds within her images, worlds that didn't exist before. Using sets, props and an innovative approach, she then brings it all together into a final piece through digital technology.
With a creative background stretching back to childhood (when she was known to vandalise the bedroom walls with crayon rabbit drawings and won 3rd prize in a photography competition at age 8), Cyndi went on to study a specific Art & Design stream for year 12.
She has completed a Bachelor of Photography (following on from an Advanced Diploma - Art Major) at Photography Studies College in Melbourne, and a Diploma of Graphic Design at Torrens University. She also won the 2015 Victorian Student of the Year at the Australian Institute of Professional Photography's Victorian Epson awards.
It’s not so much a love of picking up a camera and taking a picture, but the construction of an image that holds a fascination for her, either spending hours (or days) making props and constructing sets or playing with total image manipulation and compositing elements to make something new. Creating another world or a fictional scene, quite often with a hint of humour or absurdity is where the fun lies for her; creating something that didn’t exist before.
