Traversing Narratives
Traversing Narratives presents the work of second-year Bachelor of Photography and Digital Imaging students from Photography Studies College, Melbourne.
Each project is driven by the production of a photobook, and this is accompanied by a key image in the exhibition. The second-year folio centres on creating a visual narrative where each student’s theme is woven into a sequence of images, designed to guide the viewer through a personal or conceptual journey. The student-initiated themes are diverse and include nocturnal wildlife in a suburban context, reassessment of religious beliefs and ecological concerns in waterways.
In collaboration with professional printers, students carefully consider every detail—from book design and paper choice to sequencing and the tactile experience of the book as an interactive object. The exhibition title speaks not only to the students' creative journey but also to the act of constructing a photobook.
